the altaring

let your altar

alter you

One high energy evening of ritual, altars, embodiment, music and the permission you have been waiting for

A woman with gray hair sitting against the roots of a large, gnarled tree in an outdoor setting with green foliage.

sound familiar? *

You have been waiting for someone to tell you it is allowed. Whatever "it" is. But the truth is, no one is coming to give you permission.

You dress for comfort, or for who you are supposed to be, while the clothes that make you feel most alive hang unworn.

You know how to hold everything and everyone else together, but you have forgotten what it feels like to take up space without apologising for it.

Something in you wants to move. To shift. To be louder. To be seen. To want what she wants. And she has been waiting long enough.

This is exactly what the Altaring is for

what if you turned the volume up?

A woman in a flowing dress and a patterned shawl standing barefoot on a grassy field under a cloudy sky.

Most of what is offered to women at this point in our lives asks us to calm down, to stay small, to remain invisible, to lurk at the edges. Breathe more slowly. Want less. Need less. Settle. Soothe. Make ourselves easier to live with.

The Altaring asks the opposite.

It asks, what if you turned the volume up?

What if, instead of trying to contain yourself, you gave yourself permission to take up more space?

Underneath the capable woman, the sensible woman, the woman who knows how to keep everything running, there is more of you. More appetite. More expression. More pleasure. More power. More life.

She does not need soothing.

She needs letting out.

One evening will not undo decades of conditioning. But it can give your body an experience of something different. A felt sense of what it is to stop asking permission, take up space and let yourself want what you actually want.

And once you have felt her, you cannot unfeel her.

Something arrives before we gather.

A ritual guidebook comes by email with everything you need to prepare, including one important instruction:

Come dressed for what you are calling in.

Pleasure. Freedom. Visibility. Rest. Desire. Abundance. Audacity.

Wear the thing you keep saving. Wear too much, or too little. Wear what makes you feel most like yourself.

Let getting dressed become part of the ritual.

There will also be a playlist that will not let you stay still and, a few days before we meet, something will arrive through your letterbox. Beautiful. Limited. Numbered. Made by my hand especially for The Altaring.

I am keeping that part a secret.

Some things are better discovered than explained.

before we gather

before we gather *

A woman with long gray hair standing in front of a large, thick tree with sprawling branches, raising her fists and looking to the side. She is wearing a patterned shawl with orange fringe over a beige top.

We meet online in the dark of the evening, and we begin by turning the music up.

I bring heart pumping, hip swaying tunes, and we start where words cannot reach. You do not need to know how to dance. You do not need to look good doing it. Camera on or camera off, you decide. This is not a performance. You just need a body and a willingness to let it have a say.

Then we slow things down.

Guidebook in hand, you begin to build your altar, piece by piece, in your own home. Not to make something beautiful, but to give form to what you are ready to call closer. To make visible what has been stirring beneath the surface. This is slower work. Intentional work. And it asks something of you.

From there, we move into ritual. A threshold between what has been and what might come next.

Then an embodiment practice, so that whatever has shifted does not remain another beautiful idea in your head. We give it somewhere to land. Somewhere to be felt. Somewhere to begin becoming lived.

And when the work is done, we get back on our feet.

Music up. Bodies moving.

We finish where we began, only something in you may no longer be standing in quite the same place.

the night

Although you will be in your own home, at your own altar, you will not be doing this alone.

Across other rooms, other women will be at theirs. Moving. Making. Choosing. Turning up the volume on themselves at exactly the same time.

There is something powerful about being witnessed as you choose yourself. About knowing that while you cross your own threshold, other women are crossing theirs.

Your experience is entirely your own, but you are part of something being created together, a field none of us could make alone.

Most women arrive waiting to be allowed.

They leave having stopped asking.

I’m charlotte

A woman in black clothing stands barefoot on grass near a body of water on an overcast day, holding a sheer black shawl.

I'm Charlotte. I'm a somatic coach, facilitator and photographer of more than twenty years, and I work with women standing at the midlife threshold.

I know what it is to spend years being capable while quietly losing contact with yourself. I also know what can happen when you stop treating your body as something to manage and begin listening to it instead.

I've been through the fire myself. I came out the other side not untouched, but unbroken and more fully myself.

I know this terrain from the inside.

That is not a credential. It is a covenant.
